“I, KW, have known Allen Norman of Ely Design Group, in a professional capacity since June 2006. Allen was given the brief to design and present for planning permission two properties in Cambridgeshire. He then saw the project through planning permission being granted in September 2006. I then commissioned Allen to appoint builders and project manage the buildings, this being successfully completed in November 2008. During this time I found Allen diligent in executing his duties in dealing with all the technical details of the build. He always followed up my e-mails and telephone calls promptly and we established a good and trusted working relationship.

Hi Allen

Well it is just 5 years since we moved in it has gone so fast and I thought that I would say how much we are still enjoying Brookfield Cottage it is so nice to live in. When people ask if I designed it, I always say no we just told Allen what accommodation we wanted and this is what he came up with – so thanks again. Would we tweak the design if we did it again, well yes. We put built in wardrobes in the bedrooms and this has left them a bit on the narrow side so an extra half metre would have made a difference. It would also have meant that we could have had a return unit in the kitchen as it was about 300 mm to do that. We love the Velux roof lights and would have had more – an extra one in the bathroom and also one over our bed. I should have made the actual dormer windows a little narrower so that there is a curtain reveal. I should have made the balcony in the main bedroom wider – may by 500 mm as it is still not really wide enough for plants. Well that’s about it, we love it when we go away as we can’t wait to get home.
