Architectural Design for your Loft Conversion in Cambridge

We currently have availability to take on two new loft conversion design projects - BOOK YOURS NOW.

Whilst we are on site we will:-

  • Discuss your requirements and confirm whether your loft can be converted.
  • Carry out the measured survey of your property on the 19th or 20th October 2017
  • Prepare a drawing showing the existing plans and elevations.
  • Prepare the design drawings within 48 hours of completion of the measured survey based on your requirements and email to you for your comments or approval. We will amend the drawing until we have obtained your approval.
  • Submit the Planning Application or Application for a Certificate of Lawful Development within 48 hours of you approving the drawings.
  • Agree FIXED dates for preparing the working drawings, Building Regulation application and any Notices under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
  • GUARANTEE these dates for producing drawings and submitting the applications.
  • Write and provide a detailed fee quotation for other services we can provide including preparing detailed schedule of work and obtaining quotations from local contractors. Monitor the works on site to confirm compliance with the drawings, relevant standards etc. and administer the building control.

How do I book one of the two dates?

Please email Mary on the form above and Mary will contact you to agree which date suits you best.

How much will this cost?

When you speak to Mary, she will take details of your requirements. Before we meet you we will write to confirm our fees and explain in detail the services we would be pleased to carry out for you.

When do I pay for your services?

You will know what our fees are in advance of our visit. When we visit your property to discuss your project and confirm that your loft is suitable for conversion we will require payment in full before proceeding with the measured survey, drawings etc. Mary will process your payment over the telephone using your credit or debit card.

So when I have paid, when do you do the measured survey?

As soon as Mary has confirmed that payment has been received, which is normally whilst you are still on the 'phone to her, we will continue with the measured survey.

How long will the measured survey take?

The time taken will depend on the site of the property but most properties will take approximately 2 hours to measure.

When can I expect to receive the design drawings?

The design drawings will be emailed to you within 48 hours of us completing the measured survey. Please let us have any comments you may has so that we can make the changes and send back to you for approval.

So once I have approved the drawings you will submit the Planning Application or Application for a Certificate of Lawful Development within 48 hours?

Yes. Our fees, which you will have already paid, will include for the relevant council fees.

Can I show these drawings to Builders so that I can start to get some prices?

The simple answer is Yes. Builders will be able to give you some budget costings but they will need further information to be able to give you a detailed price for the works. These details will be provided on the working drawings and associated construction notes which are normally prepared once Planning Permission has been granted or the Certificate of Lawfulness has been issued.
